Since they’ve been revealed on Geekosystem and a few other websites, I figured it was safe to post them up here as well! These are the logos I did for the Mary Sue website that Geekosystem is going to be launching soon! It was definitely a fun project, and a learning experience as well. There are a few other logos that either may have not met the cut, or are going to be revealed when the site is debuted, so I’m going to keep those under wraps until I know what the final outcome is. Hey guys, here’s a brand new illustration that I just finished up. Inspired by a quick spot illustration I did a few months ago, I revamped it and took a lot more time to do it. Totally happy with it. Take a look!

Hey guys! I’ve just added a new image to my contact page to replace the not so great sketch that was chilling there before. It’s a flying turtle! Who doesn’t like flying turtles? I’ve also updated both the Comic and Illustration gallery with a few new images that I’ve done over the last little bit, so feel free to go check them out.

And! If you weren’t aware, I’ve been doing quick comics while at work about the crazy people one encounters while working at a souvenir shop in the airport. And on the international concourse no less. You can find them on my Tumblr, or more specifically under the Work Comic hashtag. That’s it for now!

Oh, and this is the holiday card I sent out to some friends and family this year.

Auntie Rosemary was an amazing woman who was dealt a poor final year with the death of her son, and her husband who passed before her. She was witty, smart, and sarcastic – she was grumpy, but genuine, and most of all – funny. She was the one relative outside of my immediate family that I was able to identify with. Who I knew I MUST have been related to because we were so much alike. Because she wasn’t afraid to be herself, and she certainly wasn’t afraid to let you know about it. I remember going to her house and being enthralled by all of the art she had around her home, from the sculptures to the print of a bare breasted Kali Ma devouring Shiva. I had never seen anything like it before, and Auntie Rosemary inspired in me a curiosity in art – and the story behind it that grew into so much more. I aspire some day to be like her, and have only realized just how much I have always adored and admired her now that she is gone. I only wish I could live as long as she did, and leave with as much love in this world that she left with.

I was able to see her two weeks before she died. We had coffee together, talked about if my sister or I had boyfriends yet, she asked about my art, how it was going…telling me it was beautiful. And I’m so glad I was able to see her one final time, to see the Auntie Rosemary I remembered from when I was little – the vibrant, happy woman who loved to chat over tea and coffee. Thank you Auntie Rosemary, for everything.

I am looking forward to two days off in a row though, in the next…two weeks… I think. Weekends! Who knew I would miss them so very very much.

Hey guys! Some fabulous things have been happening on this end. Some good, some bad, but there’s always a silver lining. In the most recent news, I worked with Hope Larson on a preview piece for her adaptation of A Wrinkle in Time! She sent me her fabulous lines and I coloured them! It was certainly a learning experience on my part, teaching me a valuable lesson on patience when it comes to compressing files and emailing them. But never the less, the end result it totally awesome, with spectacular additions made by Hope for the final product.

I’m also still working on Freckle-Face right now. Something I totally spaced to announce here because I’m an idiot like that. I’ve got a few comics there in the archives that you can peruse while I work on the updates. Which brings me to the need to draw upon a silver lining in the sky. I’m losing significant hours at the day job I’ve been working, but as a result, I’ll be able to dedicate more hours toward the actual career I want to pursue. You win some, you lose some, but it all evens out.

Also in related news, I finally have a camera at my disposal again, which means reference shots, which means more comics! Hussah!

New Illustration done for Sessions from the Box, of the fabulous Ashia Grzesik, who I had ever even heard of before – but was totally won over by. Seriously some awesome music. I am in love with the vocals, the cello – even her fashion sense. Dang. I’m actually really happy with this right now, but I’m going to try re-doing it with a traditional medium for myself, just to play around. I’ve been bitten by the traditonal inking bug and I’m not sure why. Maybe I’m just missing actually working with pen and ink. Who knows. Whatever the reason, I’m going to be working on that, as well as getting back into the swing of Freckle-Face after an unplanned hiatus. this whole balancing work and art thing isn’t exactly as easy as I thought it would be. Then again, I didn’t think that working 36 hours a week still counted as part time!
